The Eastside and Southeast sections of the Kodiak District will open for a commercial Tanner crab Chionoecetes bairdi fishery on January 15, 2013, unless delayed by weather. The total Kodiak District guideline harvest level (GHL) is 660,000 pounds with 520,000 pounds available in the Eastside Section and 140,000 pounds available in the Southeast Section. Based on the GHL, the pot limit will be 20 pots per vessel. In the Eastside Section, Ugak Bay and inner Kiliuda Bay will remain closed to commercial Tanner crab fishing. Harvest within bays or localized areas may be managed proportional to annual trawl survey results.
