This document provides an overview of the South Peninsula District Tanner crab harvest strategy and summarizes regulations governing gear specifications, pot storage, landing requirements, fishing hours, tank inspection, and inseason reporting. The Eastern Section of the South Peninsula District will open for a commercial Tanner crab Chionoecetes bairdi fishery on January 15, 2013, unless delayed by weather. The 2013 Eastern Section guideline harvest level (GHL) is 230,000 pounds. Based on the GHL, the pot limit will be 30 pots per vessel. Fishermen are encouraged to use this document as a supplement to the 2012–2014 Commercial King and Tanner Crab Fishing Regulations booklet to understand the regulations for this fishery.
