Information specific to recreational fisheries in the Yukon Management Area in 2010 and preliminary information for 2011 is presented. Estimates of fishing effort, total catch and effort is summarized up through the 2010 season. This information is provided to the Alaska Board of Fisheries, as well as to the general public and interested parties. Summaries of major fisheries within the area are detailed, including descriptions of the performance of these fisheries, regulatory actions by Alaska Board of Fisheries, social and biological issues, and descriptions of ongoing research and management activities. The remote waters of the Yukon Management Area supported about 9,000 angler days of sport fishing in 2010. Freshwater species dominated the total catch of 40,000 fish and a harvest of approximately 6,000. Arctic grayling, northern pike, inconnu (sheefish), and Dolly Varden char comprised 75% of the total catch.
